OMG! I'm exhausted! The day started off not quite so promising as it was raining, but it cleared in the early afternoon as I took the beastiette to the shops to use her birthday gift cards and dosh. Best Buy was a bit of a bust game wise for the DS, but we went to PetCo and Jackpot!
The birthday girl got a $65 hamster cage for $15, and two free dwarf hamsters. They were up for adopting out, so why not. I don't think that her feet touched the ground the entire afternoon. So, Marietta and Toffee have joined the menagerie. My mother thinks I need my head examined, and she's probably right, but having a very happy, newly-minted twelve year old beastiette is well worth it.
Trick-or-treating was fun. We went a bit later as the beasties had a party they were invited to, but still they managed a good haul. The beastie dressed as Tom Baker's Doctor and the beastiette dressed as Romana I. A few people got it and gave out extra candy for the "Hello, I'm the Doctor. Would you like to give me a jelly baby?" One lady had never heard of Doctor Who, and it was a bit of a party house... where I learned a killer new cocktail* The people who had heard of Who joined in the teasing:
"Doctor Who?"
"Yes!"
"Who?"
"The Doctor."
"Doctor Who?"
"Yes!"
The beasties got called back over on the way back down the street and got more extra candy for all the fun that conversation and explanation generated. Just finished supper up and think we're going to save the singing of "Happy Birthday" and cake eating for tomorrow at breakfast.
Right now, they're too busy sorting out the piles of candy.
